Alien Ordinals uses Power Blocks based on DMT (Digital Matter Theory) Technology.
Digital Matter Theory utilizes naturally occurring sequences and patterns on the blockchain to indicate when an Ordinal can be minted.
When you mint an Alien Ordinal, your DMT based ordinal is posted on chain as proof of you finding the Power Block first. Duplicate minting of the same Power Block later will be ignored.
Power Blocks are defined by any block number where the hash contains 1111 and is permanently defined on chain with the element.
Alien Ordinals .element is defined following the format <name>.<pattern>.<field>.element
name
alien
title of element
pattern
1111
Where <pattern>
is the pattern discovered in the desired <field>
of choice. The field consists of the following fields within block data of Bitcoin
field
0
Represents a mapped dataset of the block data of Bitcoin. 0 = "block_hash" : "hex"

Digital Matter Theory proposes that it is possible to create a form of digital substance by leveraging the inherent patterns present in data.

$dmt-natcats and $dmt-nat are two documented projects using DMT and reference the same .element inscription of 3b.3b.11.element .
NFTs on Ethereum are defined by ERC721 smart contracts
NATs on Bitcoin can serve as dual-purpose token wrappers for non-fungible and fungible token genesis
UNATs on Bitcoin define a non-fungible collection by connecting the DMT .element with an onchain visual inscription
NATs extend the TAP protocol by adding the DMT .element
